Policy Council

Policy Council is the overall governing body of the Council responsible for developing policy and giving policy advice, together with determining directions and strategies related to youth sector development consists of 12 young people, individual or organisational representatives and 16 network representatives meets every eight weeks

Management Committee

is selected by the Policy Council from Policy Council members is responsible for adherence to the legal requirements of incorporation, financial accountability, employment of staff, and accountability to members and funding bodies. It consists of 7-9 members and meets every eight weeks.

Members of Policy Council and Management Committee can me Individual Members or Organisational Members. Each Network also has a position on Policy Council.

Getting Involved in YACSA's Governance

There are opportunities for young members to become involved in the governance of YACSA through: YACSA's Management Committee; and YACSA's Policy Council.

Management Committee

What is it? The Management Committee is made up of seven to nine members of the Policy Council, who are elected by the Policy Council to oversee the financial, staffing, contracting, asset management and accountability functions of YACSA.

When do they meet? Every second month.

Who can join? Any member of Policy Council.

How to join; You must be a member of Policy Council to nominate for a position of the Management Committee. Elections occur at the first Policy Council meeting after the AGM.

Policy Council

What is it? The Policy Council is responsible for developing policy and giving policy advice, together with determining directions and strategies related to youth sector development. YACSA’s President, Vice President and Treasurer are elected by the Policy Council.

When do they meet? Every second month.

Who can join? Any YACSA member (not limited to young members). Regional representatives participate in a teleconference.

How to join; There are twelve places for which individuals, young people and organisations can nominate. Nominate for a position prior to YACSA’s Annual General Meeting (AGM). Nominations open annually around late July/early August. Contact admin@yacsa.com.au for a nomination form.
