Call out for Youth Facilitators

As part of this inaugural convention, we are seeking energetic and confident youth leaders to be Youth Facilitators of interactive group sessions.

What’s involved?

  • We are seeking local Year 11/12 students or recent high school graduates, who are passionate about active citizenship and youth voice to be Youth Facilitators.

  • Youth Facilitators will co-facilitate engaging interactive group sessions for Year 10 students alongside other inspiring youth leaders, with the support of Department staff, using materials supplied by the department. Their role will be to spark and guide student participation in learning activities and discussions related to key themes of the Convention.

  • Each interactive group session will run for approximately 90-minutes and will explore key themes of the convention related to:

    • democracy and active citizenship;

    • youth voice and leadership; and

    • misinformation, disinformation and the role of media in a healthy democracy.

  • Youth Facilitators can commit to 1, 2 or all 3 days and will be compensated for their time and contributions.

  • Youth Facilitators who are no longer at school must have a current Working with Children Check (WWCC).

  • Online training sessions will take place for Youth Facilitators on 31 July and 11 August, with an in-person briefing occurring prior to the event on 17 August. Department staff will be on hand to support throughout the day, to ensure all Youth Facilitators feel confident and ready to shine.
