Youth Information Hub project

Project overview

The Youth Affairs Council of South Australia (YACSA) is working with the Department of Human Services (DHS) to create a new online information hub for young people in South Australia.

This project delivers Action 1 of South Australia’s Youth Action Plan 2025–2028. The goal is simple: make it easier for young people to find reliable, relevant and youth-friendly information in one place.

The website will be co-designed with young people and will include information about:

  • Supports and opportunities available within local communities

  • Transitioning to adulthood – building independence, becoming work-ready, and developing essential life skills

  • Civics education – strengthening understanding of democratic processes, rights, political systems in practice, and how to participate in decision-making

  • Other issues that matter to young people, including climate change and mental wellbeing

The project’s Youth Working Group has been selected, but there are still ways for other young South Australians to get involved.

Getting involved

Are you a young people aged 12–25 who lives in South Australia and wants to make a positive difference for other young people?

We want to ensure the site works for the diverse range of young people across SA. While the working group has been selected, there are still ways for other young South Australians to get involved. We strongly encourage expressions of interest from young people who are:

  • Aboriginal

  • living with disability and/or neurodivergence

  • in out-of-home care

  • LGBTIQA+

  • young carers

  • from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds

  • living in regional or remote areas.

We also welcome young people who have experience of, or connections to:

  • the youth justice system

  • homelessness or risk of homelessness.

You do not need previous experience in advisory groups or leadership roles – your perspective and ideas are what matter.

For the youth sector

Do you have programs, services or resources?

This project is not about duplicating existing work. Our aim is to strengthen and amplify the high-quality resources and services already available across the sector.

The initial phase will focus on identifying and reviewing publicly accessible resources and engaging with key stakeholders – including government departments and non-government organisations – who develop content and deliver services for young people.

Through this site, co-designed with young people, we will bring together information on:

  • supports and opportunities available within local communities

  • transitioning to adulthood – building independence, becoming work-ready, and developing essential life skills

  • civics education – strengthening understanding of democratic processes, rights, political systems in practice, and how to participate in decision-making

  • other issues that matter to young people, including climate change and mental wellbeing.

If your organisation has publicly accessible, youth-friendly information relevant to the areas above – or are currently developing new resources or initiatives – we would welcome the opportunity to connect.

By working collaboratively, we can ensure the hub reflects the breadth of expertise across the SA sector and provides young people with a trusted, centralised entry point to the information, supports and opportunities available to them.
